Let’s talk!
Stefan Elf

Hi, I'm Stefan

I help companies communicate clearly across languages, cultures and workflows. With experience in web development, translation and systems thinking, I specialise in finding clarity where others see complexity.

I’m based in Stockholm, Sweden. A native Swede, I work fluently in Swedish, English and Mandarin Chinese.

For more than twenty years I’ve worked in different countries across web development, communication, translation and user-focused design. My background in healthcare analysis and therapeutic work has trained me to see complete systems — people, workflows and organisations — rather than isolated tasks.

If this way of working resonates with you, I’d be happy to talk. You’re welcome to book a free 15-minute call to explore your needs.

Reduce friction, improve communication

These days, there are almost too many options available for creating websites, software or corporate branding. With the AI revolution we now have tools that offer quick generation of just about any digital product. But a computer can never understand a user or client the way a human can.

Understanding how people work and think is what sets my work apart. My unique strength is in seeing the whole picture and providing the right tool for the job.

A technical challenge is rarely only technical — it always includes people, habits, constraints, workflows and everyday reality. Instead of treating design, development and long-term decisions as separate pieces, I bring them together into one coherent view.

My background as a therapist shaped this instinct early. Working as a therapist teaches you to understand the full pattern — the person, the history, and all the seemingly unrelated symptoms. You look for connections that others might overlook. I approach digital work the same way: not treating an isolated “symptom,” but understanding the whole environment in which a solution needs to function.

My aim is simple: I connect ideas so that the whole solution makes sense - to the people who use it.

I look at how the parts influence each other and create solutions that feel natural and calm — because they fit the people who use them.

A few examples of how this shows up in my work:

Seeing workflows, not just digital products
Before designing an interface, I begin with the real routines, pressure points and decision moments of the people who will use the system. The design grows out of the workflow, not the other way around.
Aligning system structure with human behaviour
A piece of software shouldn't just be code — it should reflect how people think, search, interpret and act under time pressure. When the structure matches the human pattern, software becomes intuitive rather than demanding.
Turning complexity into clarity
Many problems involve a tangled mix of work processes, habits, technical limitations and organisational needs. My role is to untangle these threads and offer a practical, sustainable path forward.
Choosing simplicity over features
Often the most helpful change is removing friction rather than adding options. A clearer decision, an improved terminology or a simplified workflow can create a dramatic improvement.

In short, my strength lies in seeing how everything connects — and turning that understanding into digital tools that work quietly and smoothly, with as little friction as possible.
